The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced plans to begin free delivery of petrol and diesel to marketers, major dealers, and large-scale consumers across Nigeria starting August 15, 2025.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Lagos-based refinery revealed that it has acquired 4,000 brand-new tankers powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to kick-start the distribution initiative.

As part of the scheme, the refinery will also provide a credit facility to customers purchasing at least 500,000 litres of fuel. Under this arrangement, eligible buyers can access an additional 500,000 litres on credit for two weeks, secured by a bank guarantee.

To ensure smooth and sustainable distribution, the refinery said it has invested heavily in CNG infrastructure, including daughter booster stations and a dedicated fleet of over 100 CNG tankers nationwide.

“This strategic initiative is aimed at eliminating logistics costs, boosting energy efficiency, supporting sustainability, and accelerating national economic growth,” the company said.

The refinery added that the initiative is expected to reactivate dormant petrol stations, create jobs, empower small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), enhance government revenue, and improve fuel access in rural and underserved areas.

“This pioneering move represents a major leap forward in our commitment to transforming Nigeria’s energy landscape,” the statement added.

“Dangote Refinery remains dedicated to ensuring equitable access to affordable fuel for all Nigerians—regardless of location—by making energy more accessible, inclusive, and sustainable.”
