The wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has extended her heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Adamawa State following the devastating flood disaster that recently ravaged several communities across the state.

Represented by the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, Senator Tinubu paid a condolence visit to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Government House in Yola, where she delivered messages of sympathy and solidarity to the affected residents.

As part of the humanitarian outreach, Hajiya Shettima presented a ₦500 million donation, approved under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), to support 1,800 households severely impacted by the flood. The intervention is aimed at helping victims begin the process of recovery, healing, and rebuilding their lives.

“The Renewed Hope Initiative has approved ₦500 million to alleviate the suffering of those displaced by the recent floods. This gesture is not just about relief; it is about restoring dignity and giving hope to our fellow Nigerians,” Hajiya Shettima said during the presentation.

In addition to the flood relief, Hajiya Shettima also flagged off the ₦1 billion Women Economic Empowerment Programme, a partnership between the Renewed Hope Initiative and the Tony Elumelu Foundation. The program targets 500 women from each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, aiming to provide capital and capacity-building support to women-led businesses across Nigeria.

“This economic empowerment program is a beacon of hope for Nigerian women. It seeks to equip them not only with the resources but also with the confidence to lead economic change in their communities,” she added.

Governor Fintiri expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of Adamawa, describing the visit and donations as timely and impactful.

“We are touched by this show of concern and generosity from the First Lady and the Renewed Hope Initiative. This support will go a long way in cushioning the hardship faced by our people,” the Governor stated.

Selected beneficiaries of the women empowerment initiative also expressed appreciation for the opportunity, describing the program as life-changing.

“This grant will help me expand my tailoring business and train other young girls in my community,” said Hauwa Bello, one of the beneficiaries from Yola South.

The visit underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting disaster-affected communities and promoting inclusive economic growth through targeted interventions that prioritize the most vulnerable.
