Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has praised the Department of State Services (DSS) for successfully rescuing two Catholic priests who were kidnapped in Numan.

He commended the DSS for its professionalism and bravery in securing the victims’ release without paying any ransom. The Governor expressed appreciation to the DSS Director General and the Adamawa State Command for the swift and effective operation.

Governor Fintiri reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the safety of lives and property, warning that criminal elements will not be spared.

“We will not spare anybody found wanting, no matter who you are,” he said.

He lauded the prompt action of DSS operatives, which led to the safe rescue of Rev. Fathers Matthew David Dusami and Abraham Samman, as well as the arrest of a suspect, Tahamado Jonathan Damien, a member of the church.

The Governor also emphasized the importance of intelligence sharing and collaboration among security agencies. He noted that the combined efforts of the DSS, Police, Armed Forces, and other security bodies will help foster a secure environment for residents and investors alike, as peace and security are vital for socio-economic growth.

The two priests were abducted from their residence at a convent in Gweda Mallam, Numan Local Government Area, in February 2025.
