The Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Adamawa State Command, Ibrahim Mohammed, has called for closer collaboration with the Ganye Traditional Council to enhance border security and monitor cross-border movements in the region.
He made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the palace of Gangwari Ganye, His Royal Highness Alhaji Adamu Umaru Sanda, as part of his official tour of the state’s southern zone.
Highlighting Ganye’s strategic location as a border community, Comptroller Mohammed emphasized the need for increased vigilance and support from traditional institutions and local residents to curb illegal migration and protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
He urged the people of Ganye and surrounding areas to cooperate with immigration officers by identifying and reporting unauthorized migrants.
In response, Gangwari Ganye expressed appreciation for the visit and lauded the NIS for its efforts in safeguarding the nation’s borders. He pledged the Traditional Council’s full support, saying, “We will assist in every possible way to ensure that Nigeria Immigration Service officers carry out their duties effectively.”
The Comptroller also paid a visit to the Ganye Local Government Council, where he was received by Vice Chairperson Hon. Sirente Jelani on behalf of the Chairman, Hon. Farouk Mohammed Ganye. Discussions also focused on strengthening border security and improving community well-being.
The visits represent a strategic effort to deepen inter-agency cooperation and community engagement in tackling irregular migration and border-related crimes.
