The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Adamawa State Chapter, Mr. Ishaka Donald Dedan, has raised an alarm over an alleged threat to his life during the Bwatiye International Cultural Fiesta held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Mahmud Ribadu Square, Yola.
According to Mr. Dedan, the threat came from one Hamidu Muktari, popularly known as “Dogo,” who is said to identify himself as the Director of Youth Mobilization for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State.
The incident reportedly occurred shortly after Mr. Dedan, who was serving as one of the official Masters of Ceremony, had welcomed the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, to the event.
“While the Governor was delivering his address, I heard someone ranting nearby. When I turned to ask him to lower his voice, I was surprised to find that the individual was Hamidu Muktari. He began pointing at me, making threatening and defamatory remarks in the presence of several high-profile guests,” Mr. Dedan recounted.
The NUJ Chairman stated that Muktari vowed to “deal with” him once the Governor concluded his speech and warned that he would “show me who he truly is.”
Mr. Dedan said the altercation drew the attention of the Governor’s Aide-de-Camp (ADC) and members of the protocol team, who intervened and restrained Muktari. The incident was reportedly witnessed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor and several journalists, including members of the press crew.
In response, Mr. Dedan has formally reported the matter to both the Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) in the state.
“I want it on record that if anything happens to me or any member of my family, Hamidu Muktari, aka Dogo, should be held fully responsible,” he stated.
He further alleged that this was not the first time Muktari had harassed or assaulted journalists in Adamawa State, calling on relevant authorities to take immediate action to safeguard press freedom and public safety.

Hello!
Just came across this disturbing article
This shouldn’t be taken lightly, this political hyenas are capable of doing anything.
He Mr (dogo) should know that ishaka Dedan is not a chewing gum that he thinks he can chew at will.
I want to put to him that in his dealings he should avoid the son of the soil (citizen)
You cannot leave your country and come to someone’s country and threatened him just because you think you have some little croms of power in your disposal.
The NUJ chairman is a very revered and respected person holding a significant position in the state not a political bulldog that goes barking on behalf of his owner.
I swear if anything by any means happen to Mr Dedan you will regret coming to Nigeria.
