The Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA) will begin distributing 40,000 empowerment forms across all 226 political wards in Adamawa State this week, as part of a state-backed initiative to support women and youth involved in small-scale businesses.

The initiative, known as the PAWECA Empowerment Program, is a flagship effort by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri aimed at reducing poverty and fostering grassroots entrepreneurship. Each approved applicant will receive ₦50,000 in direct financial support to grow their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

Speaking in Yola, PAWECA Director General Michael Zira confirmed that the distribution will be carried out fairly and transparently across all wards.

“This empowerment program is designed to have a direct impact on the lives of our people,” Zira said. “Thanks to the vision of His Excellency, Governor Fintiri, each beneficiary will receive ₦50,000 to support their business goals. This is a significant step toward economic inclusion and community development.”

The program targets women and youth engaged in micro-enterprises such as agriculture, tailoring, food processing, and retail trading—sectors considered vital to the local economy.

The initiative aligns with Governor Fintiri’s broader development agenda, which emphasizes self-reliance, job creation, and sustainable economic growth across the state.

Residents are encouraged to visit their respective ward collection centers to obtain and submit application forms starting this week.
