The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has constituted a 12-member Caretaker Committee to oversee the affairs of the party in Adamawa State, following the resignation of the State Executive Committee.
The decision was taken by the party’s National Working Committee to prevent a leadership vacuum and ensure stability within the party structure at a critical time.
Engr. Belmont Dogo has been appointed Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, while Alhaji Yerima Shekauru will serve as Secretary.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, Engr. Dogo expressed gratitude to the PDP’s national leadership for the confidence reposed in them. He described the assignment as transitional rather than ceremonial, noting that the committee’s mandate is to stabilize the party and prepare a clear, credible pathway for the emergence of a substantive State Executive Committee.
He reassured party members and the general public that the PDP remains strong, united, and committed to democratic values and good governance. According to him, the caretaker arrangement represents an opportunity for renewal, reform, and internal consolidation.
The committee also pledged transparency and regular engagement with the media, while calling on party stakeholders in Adamawa State to embrace unity, cooperation, and collective rebuilding efforts to reposition the party for future political activities.
