President Tinubu has approved the establishment of a dedicated forest guard unit to secure 1,129 forests nationwide in a move to combat terrorists and bandits.
He directed the National Security Adviser (NSA) to oversee full implementation, beginning with the recruitment of personnel.
The President emphasized that the forest guards must be properly trained and armed to flush out terrorists and criminal gangs using the forests as hideouts.
He also noted that the recruitment process will be a joint security effort between the federal and state governments.
