The Office of the United States Trade Representative has criticized Nigeria for imposing a ban on 25 categories of imported goods, a move it says is harming American exporters.
Amid rising global trade tensions, fueled in part by sweeping U.S. tariffs on various countries, the USTR listed Nigeria’s import restrictions as one of the top ten unfair trade practices affecting the United States.
The agency noted that Nigeria’s bans on products such as beef, pork, poultry, fruit juices, pharmaceuticals, and alcoholic beverages are limiting U.S. market access and curbing export opportunities.
