The Adamawa Progressive Elders Council (APEC) has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for re-election in the 2027 general elections, reaffirming its unwavering loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its commitment to strengthening party unity and progress in Adamawa State.
The endorsement was reached at a well-attended meeting of the Council held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Muna Hotel, Yola.

The Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee, Ahmad Sajoh, fnipr, in a Release made available to Newsmen, said the endorsement reflects the collective conviction of APC elders in Adamawa State that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership and reform agenda remain vital to Nigeria’s continued progress and stability.

APEC is an APC support group established in line with the recommendations of the party’s Reconciliation Committee and subsequently adopted by the Leader of the APC in Adamawa State. The Council was constituted to promote peace, internal harmony and reconciliation within the party, with a clear mandate to build a formidable APC structure capable of delivering President Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 electoral cycle.

According to the relase, the meeting was presided over by the Chairman of the Council and drew a wide array of eminent party stakeholders, including a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, former governors, serving and former ministers, former members of the National and State Assemblies, former state cabinet members, current federal appointees, and other high-profile APC leaders from across the state. Members of the Adamawa State APC leadership were also present.

A major highlight of the meeting was a goodwill message from the Leader of the APC in Adamawa State, delivered through the Honourable Minister of Livestock Development. The message served as a strong morale booster and further reinforced the resolve of the Elders Council to remain steadfast in the pursuit of its objectives.

In an eight-point communiqué signed by the Vice Chairman of the Council, Senator Abubakar Halilu Girei, and the Secretary, Mrs. Olvadi Bema Madayi, the Council reached the following resolutions:

The Council expressed deep appreciation to the Leader of the Party in Adamawa State and the state party leadership for the establishment of the Council and the continuous support it enjoys, while reaffirming its absolute loyalty and commitment to the APC.

Comprising prominent APC members drawn from all 21 local government areas of Adamawa State, the Council unanimously joined other notable individuals and groups across the country in endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, citing his bold leadership, far-reaching reforms and commitment to national development.

The Council commended President Tinubu for appointing the Leader of the Party in Adamawa State to one of the most sensitive and strategic positions in government, and expressed appreciation for the various federal appointments extended to Adamawa indigenes. As a mark of gratitude, the Council resolved to organize a grand rally and reception in honour of all political appointees, in recognition of the President’s goodwill towards the state.

The Council applauded the presentations made by the Steering Committee and the Secretariat and reaffirmed its commitment to the resolutions of its inaugural meeting, particularly the provision requiring any member of the Elders Council with electoral ambitions to resign from the Council in order to preserve its neutrality and moral authority.

The meeting further resolved to give full support to the Chairman and the Steering Committee in developing operational frameworks and activity timelines for the effective functioning of the Council. All proposals presented were unanimously endorsed, with a collective commitment to ensure diligent implementation for the overall success of the APC in Adamawa State.

In a move to deepen grassroots engagement, the Council resolved to cascade its activities to the local government and ward levels, to facilitate early identification of disputes and ensure prompt conflict resolution before issues escalate.

The meeting also approved the establishment of four standing committees: the Finance and General Purpose Committee, chaired by Mrs. Olvadi Bema Madayi; the Contact and Mobilization Committee, chaired by Chief Joel Hammanjoda Madaki; the Conflict Resolution Committee, chaired by Prof. Tahir Mamman, SAN; and the Media and Publicity Committee, chaired by Ahmad Sajoh, fnipr.

In conclusion, the Council expressed profound appreciation to members and supporters who contributed in cash and kind towards the success of the meeting, and thanked all attendees for their active participation and dedication to the ideals of the party.
