Communities in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State are still counting their losses after floods displaced hundreds of families and destroyed farmlands. The disaster, triggered by days of heavy rainfall, left several homes submerged and livelihoods swept away.

During a visit to the affected area, theAssistant National Youth Leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the North East, Bilyaminu Adamu Duhu, commiserated with victims and offered prayers for their recovery.

“Our heartfelt prayers are with the families who lost their homes and means of livelihood. We pray Almighty Allah eases their burden and restores their health, wealth, and happiness,” Duhu said.

He stressed that youth leaders must play an active role in supporting victims, saying, “Together, we can make a difference.”

Flooding is a recurring challenge in Adamawa State, with communities along riverbanks and low-lying areas often bearing the brunt. Experts link the yearly disaster to poor drainage, deforestation, and the effects of climate change.

Relief efforts are ongoing, but many families remain in need of food, shelter, and support to rebuild their lives.
