The Adamawa State Contributory Health Management Agency (ASCHMA) is set to roll out an extensive health insurance campaign targeting civil servants across all 21 local government areas, as well as the informal sector of the state.

This development was disclosed by the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Ujulu Amos, during a three-day workshop on continuous professional development in marketing and communications for health insurance, held in Jos, Plateau State.

Despite enrolling over 120,000 residents, health insurance awareness and penetration in Adamawa remains critically low. According to Dr. Amos, approximately 90% of the state’s over four million residents are unaware of the health insurance scheme, largely due to the absence of an effective communication and marketing strategy.

The workshop aimed to address these gaps by strengthening the capacity of key stakeholders through structured strategies with measurable outcomes. Dr. Amos emphasized that the initiative is a deliberate effort to rejuvenate the agency’s marketing and communication units and drive increased enrollment into the scheme.

He further noted that the initiative aligns with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s commitment to inclusive healthcare delivery, in line with the global vision of “Health for All.”

The interactive workshop brought together health insurance experts, marketing and communication professionals who shared innovative strategies and practical tools. Their high-impact sessions inspired participants and provided actionable insights to help reposition ASCHMA for greater success in achieving universal health coverage in Adamawa State.
