Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has taken a significant step towards improving access to clean water in Adamawa State with the commencement of drilling activities for a solar-powered borehole at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) State Secretariat in Yola North.

This project, undertaken under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aims to provide clean water access to all 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

The borehole, with a capacity of 20,000 liters, marks a historic milestone for the NUJ press center, which has not witnessed such a significant infrastructure development since the military era. This multi-million naira project will not only benefit the NUJ members but also serve the surrounding communities.

Expressing his gratitude, NUJ State Chairman, Comrade Ishaka Donald Dedan, lauded Governor Fintiri for this significant stride. Dedan also commended the efforts of the SDGs Coordinator, Bamanga Raji, for his swift action in bringing this project to fruition.

This initiative aligns with the state government’s commitment to achieving the SDGs, particularly Goal 6, which emphasizes ensuring access to clean water and sanitation for all.

The provision of clean water is crucial for public health, economic development, and overall well-being.
