Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of one of Nigeria’s most revered elder statesmen, Professor Jibrin Aminu, who died at the age of 85.

In a heartfelt tribute, Governor Fintiri described the late Professor Aminu as “a towering figure in Nigeria’s intellectual and political landscape,” noting that his death is a tremendous loss—not just for Adamawa State, but for the entire nation. “Nigeria benefited immensely from his wisdom, scholarship, and decades of selfless service,” the Governor said.

Professor Aminu’s distinguished career included serving as Minister of Education, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Nigerian Ambassador to the United States, and Senator representing Adamawa Central. In every role, he was a model of dignity, insight, and unwavering dedication to national progress.

“Nigeria has lost one of its finest minds—a devoted public servant and an exemplary son of Adamawa. Professor Jibrin Aminu was a rare patriot and quiet reformer whose legacy spans education, diplomacy, and politics. His life’s work is a lasting gift to the nation, and his humility and wisdom will be deeply missed.”

Governor Fintiri prayed that Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus. He extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and all Nigerians touched by Professor Aminu’s remarkable life.

“Though his passing leaves a profound void, his legacy will continue to inspire generations. May his soul rest in Allah’s infinite mercy,” the Governor concluded.
