The Hama Bachama, Dr. Daniel Shaga Ismaila, has urged citizens to shun violence and embrace peaceful coexistence, warning that bloodshed and divisive actions threaten the very fabric of society.

The revered monarch made the call on Sunday, February 23, 2026, while marking his 72nd birthday at a celebration organised in his honour by the palace chaplaincy. The event, held at the royal palace, attracted traditional title holders, clergy, community leaders, youths, and well-wishers from across the Bachama chiefdom and the Numan Federation.

Speaking in a solemn but heartfelt address, the royal father cautioned against the growing tendency to resort to violence at the slightest provocation. He warned that reckless utterances, injustice, and inflammatory actions are capable of igniting chaos and communal disharmony.

“God created us to live together as one,” he said. “We must therefore reject violence and every tendency that threatens our unity and peaceful coexistence.”

The monarch further admonished that no grievance, however serious, justifies the shedding of innocent blood. He stressed that divine judgment awaits those who take lives under any guise, urging his subjects—particularly residents of the Numan Federation—to uphold peace, tolerance, and mutual love.

According to him, unguarded statements, false accusations, and divisive conduct often lay the foundation for conflict. He added that leaders at all levels must promote justice, fairness, and responsible leadership to sustain harmony within communities.

Reaffirming his commitment to service, the Hama Bachama dedicated the additional years of his life to humanity, pledging to continue championing peace-building initiatives, moral guidance, and development efforts across his chiefdom.

Earlier in his remarks, the palace chaplaincy, led by Bishop Rhema Bitrus, described the monarch as a symbol of unity and stability, noting that his reign has consistently emphasised reconciliation, faith, and communal progress.

The celebration featured prayers for the monarch’s long life and good health, cultural performances, and goodwill messages from dignitaries who commended his steadfast leadership and fatherly counsel.

As the Hama Bachama begins a new chapter at 72, his message remains unequivocal: peace is non-negotiable, and violence has no place in a society ordained by God to live as one.
