The Great Choice

By Audu Dauda

Born and raised in Dumne, in Song local government area, Adamawa central zone, Hon. Gaman John knows intimately the challenges and aspirations of residents in Song LGA and the wider Adamawa region. Dumne is not just his birthplace—it is a living testimony to his connection with the electorate. For example, Dumne appears in the state’s voter‑registration records as a recognized settlement within Song LGA, illustrating the importance of local representation.

His local origin gives him a natural affinity and trust among local stakeholders, making him ideally placed to mobilise grassroots support for the ADC.

On extensive Political and Governance Experience,

Hon. Gaman John has served in political offices and in governance roles, experience that gives him a solid foundation for the responsibilities of Secretary of the party. While specific titles of previous positions may not yet be widely documented in public sources, his involvement in significant implementation work is verifiable: in the audited financial statements of the “Adamawa State Multi‑Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project” (MCRP) he is listed as “Monitoring & Evaluation” personnel.

This role shows that he has been actively engaged in governance and project oversight in the public sector skills which map directly into effective party‑secretarial duties such as organisation, accountability, stakeholder engagement, and strategic tracking of party programmes.

Skilled in Political Reconciliation & Civil Society Engagement which give him a key advantage, Hon. Gaman John brings his dual competence in political reconciliation and civil‑society engagement. The modern political environment in Adamawa requires more than partisan posturing, it demands bridge‑building, conflict resolution and thoughtful engagement with citizens’ groups.

His work in monitoring and evaluation demonstrates his exposure to restoration, reconstruction and multi‑stakeholder management. Meanwhile, his orientation toward civil‑society work means he understands the importance of non‑governmental actors, community voices, and sustainable frameworks for participation.

This combination means that, as Secretary of ADC in Adamawa State, he would not only organise internal party processes but also serve as a credible conduit between the party and broader civic society enhancing legitimacy, expanding outreach, and creating spaces for inclusive democracy.

Across Faith line, Hon. Gaman John is a strong Voice in the Christian Community, with background as a member of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria LCCN, estimated to have a membership of over two million worshippers.

A devoted Christian and active participant in faith-based initiatives, Gaman John is warmly embraced across the Christian community in Adamawa. His values of peace, service, and humility reflect his strong spiritual foundation and give him moral standing among leaders of the Christendom. His widespread acceptance among churches, youth fellowships, and Christian leaders makes him a unifying figure across faith lines.

His vision for the ADC in Adamawa State having now been entrusted with the Secretary role, Hon. Gaman John pledges to bring his community‑based perspective and governance experience to bear in the following ways:

Strengthening grassroots structures in all LGAs of Adamawa, with special emphasis on under‑represented areas thereby ensuring the party’s presence is real, visible and felt.

Enhancing internal systems and transparency, drawing on his monitoring & evaluation background to track the party’s performance, ensure adherence to the party constitution and build accountability frameworks that inspire member confidence.

Fostering reconciliation and dialogue, not just within the party but between the party and other stakeholders, civil society, youth groups, community associations and positioning the ADC as a modern, inclusive and forward‑looking party in the state.

Translating policy into actions by working with ADC leadership and members to craft locally‑relevant programmes that address the unique concerns of Adamawa residents—education, livelihoods, peacebuilding, infrastructure and then monitoring their rollout to ensure efficacy.

Why He Is the Suitable Choice

His local origin gives authenticity and connection to the people of grassroots and Adamawa State at large, especially having served as the coordinating fulcrum of the Special Assistant welfare program of the former Governor Murtala Nyako, under which an unprecedented population of Adamawa youths overcame economic challenges

His governance experience in a meaningful role (M&E for a state‑level recovery project) shows he can handle organisational responsibilities and accountability frameworks.

His civil‑society orientation and reconciliation track‑record mean he can perform as much more than a party functionary: he can be a bridge‑builder, communicator and orchestrator of inclusive politics.

His vision for strengthening the ADC’s presence, internal systems, and external engagement aligns with what a Secretary needs to deliver—especially in a dynamic context such as Adamawa.

In conclusion, the decision of the ADC in Adamawa State to pick Hon. Gaman John as Secretary who is grounded in the community, experienced in governance and evaluation, one can only say that it is a choice towards the right direction.
