Despite a Federal High Court order restraining him, Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), has appointed administrators for the state’s 23 Local Government Areas.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Worika, made the announcement in a statement issued Wednesday morning. While the names of the appointees were not disclosed, the statement confirmed the appointments take immediate effect.
“His Excellency, the Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, CFR, has approved the appointments of administrators for the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State,” the statement read.
It added that Ibas had also approved the reconstitution of various state boards, agencies, commissions, and parastatals previously suspended. All appointments are effective from Monday, April 7, 2025.
This development comes less than 24 hours after a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt reportedly barred Ibas from making such appointments.
