The Family Planning Media Advocacy Group in Adamawa State, supported by The Challenge Initiative (TCI), has announced plans to formally register with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as part of efforts to sustain advocacy for family planning and child birth spacing in the state.
This was disclosed during a review meeting held in Yola as the TCI-supported project draws to a close.
Speaking at the meeting, members of the group emphasized that registering with the CAC will give the body a legal status, enabling it to continue its work beyond donor funding. They explained that the move will help strengthen the group’s institutional framework, open opportunities for partnerships, and enhance accountability in its activities.
The Media Advocacy Group, comprising journalists and media practitioners across Adamawa, has been instrumental in creating awareness and driving conversations around family planning and child birth spacing. The group has worked closely with stakeholders, government agencies, and community leaders to dispel myths, correct misconceptions, and encourage uptake of family planning services.
The Group’s Focal Person, Samamo Dedan, and other members commended TCI for its support and the impact recorded in increasing awareness and access to child birth spacing services in the state. They also expressed confidence that with proper registration and sustainability plans in place, the group will remain a strong voice in advancing maternal and child health.
The review meeting also provided an avenue for members to reflect on achievements, challenges, and lessons learned during the project’s implementation, while mapping out strategies for continued engagement with communities and policymakers.
