Rev. Dr. Ayuba Job Bagat, President of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), remains unwavering amid sensational social media claims suggesting he faces a jail term. The report, circulated by a questionable online outlet with a dubious reputation, alleges Dr. Bagat disobeyed a High Court order from Kano State—an accusation church leaders and legal experts have categorically dismissed.
Elder statesman Baba Yakubu Isa of the Katsina District Church Council, a long-serving member of ECWA since its Sudan Interior Mission (SIM) days, denounced the report as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public. “It’s nothing but media hype, devoid of truth and designed to tarnish the image of a respected leader,” he said. “This is an insult to ECWA’s legacy and to Dr. Bagat’s distinguished service.”
Dr. Bagat, known for his integrity and visionary leadership, has guided ECWA through significant growth and global outreach. The idea that he is entangled in legal troubles is widely regarded as implausible by those familiar with his character.
A legal adviser to the ECWA President, speaking anonymously, further clarified the issue. “The Ex parte order reportedly served on April 23, 2025, lacks legal substance. We’ve filed a motion on notice to challenge its validity,” the adviser stated. “Under the law, no one can be held in contempt over an order that is neither valid nor subsisting.”
The legal team emphasized that due process is being followed and expressed confidence in the judiciary to handle the matter fairly. “We trust the court to review our objections and deliver a just verdict. Contrary to online speculation, Rev. Dr. Bagat is not at risk of imprisonment.”
The church’s firm response, both from its elders and legal counsel, reinforces Dr. Bagat’s unblemished record and enduring influence. Despite the noise, he continues to lead ECWA with steadfast resolve and grace, unfazed by attempts to undermine his leadership.
