Sons and daughters of the Bwatiye ethnic group from across nine local government areas of Adamawa State converged on the Government House Banquet Hall in Yola to felicitate with the newly elected State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The event, described as a show of unity and solidarity, brought together prominent politicians, traditional leaders, and youth representatives from the Bwatiye nation who reaffirmed their loyalty to the ruling party in the state.

The Deputy Governor represented by Chief Pithon Power said the celebration was not just to honour the new party chairman but also to reassert the group’s commitment to the PDP’s vision for inclusive governance and development. He maintained that identifying with the party was a deliberate step to ensure that members of the Bwatiye community continue to play active roles in shaping the developmental agenda of the state.

Speaking during the event, Commissioner of Land and Survery, Chief Joab Samah, who is also one of the conveners, noted that the group remains unfazed by the recent wave of defections from the PDP to other political parties, insisting that such movements have little or no effect on their confidence in the party’s leadership. He assured that the Bwatiye nation would continue to stand firm with the PDP and its ideals.

In his remarks, the State PDP Chairman expressed gratitude to the Bwatiye people for their show of support, describing the visit as “a bold and unifying message” to opposition parties that the PDP remains deeply rooted and resolute across all zones of the state.

He also dismissed criticisms of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration as “acts of mischief” by detractors who, according to him, have failed to acknowledge the visible achievements recorded in infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment.

The event ended with renewed assurances from the Bwatiye community to continue mobilizing grassroots support for the PDP ahead of future political engagements.
