The Adamawa State Executive Council, under the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has approved a relief fund of N238 million to assist victims of the devastating 2024 floods. This intervention aims to support households in five severely affected local government areas: Numan, Lamurde, Madagali, Michika, and Demsa.
Briefing journalists after the council meeting in the government house in Yola, the Commissioners of information and Rehabilitation and reintegration say it,is part of the relief package, each household impacted by the disaster will receive N250,000 to help mitigate their losses and rebuild their lives. The funds will be distributed promptly to ensure that the victims can begin their recovery without delay.
Governor Fintiri expressed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of citizens, especially during emergencies. He emphasized that the relief effort reflects the government’s dedication to alleviating the suffering of affected communities and strengthening their resilience against future disasters.
The 2024 floods caused widespread destruction, displacing hundreds of families, damaging farmlands, and disrupting livelihoods. The relief package not only provides immediate financial assistance but also highlights the government’s proactive approach to disaster management and recovery planning.
