The Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) has elected new executives to lead the association in Adamawa State for the next four years. The newly elected officials include Bashir Mohammed Jimeta as State Chairman, Semon Martin Pola as Vice Chairman, Sadiya Jibrilla Aliyu as Secretary, Umar Mohammed as Assistant Secretary, and Salihu Abubakar as Treasurer, among others.

The new leadership emerged during the association’s first Quadrennial Delegate Congress held in Yola. The event was organized in collaboration with the Adamawa State Contributory Health Management Agency (ADSCHMA) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

Pastor Tekma Vassimu, representing the National President of TOAN, administered the oath of office and urged the new executive to serve with integrity, unity, and purpose. He emphasized the importance of cooperation among members and leaders as a foundation for lasting progress.

Speaking on behalf of the Executive Secretary of ADSCHMA, Dr. Ujulu Amos, Mohammed Sajoh reiterated the agency’s readiness to extend health insurance coverage to TOAN members, encouraging them to register and take advantage of the initiative.

Also addressing the gathering, Adamawa State TUC Chairman, Comrade Dauda Adamu Ali, reaffirmed the union’s commitment to continued partnership with TOAN to enhance the welfare of tricycle operators across the state.

In his inaugural address, Comrade Bashir Mohammed Jimeta expressed gratitude to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his ongoing support to tricycle operators. He pledged the association’s full support to the governor’s administration and to all stakeholders who contributed to the successful conduct of the congress and inauguration.

Comrade Jimeta also called on the state government to provide greater support to TOAN members through empowerment initiatives, particularly via the Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA) and similar programs.

Permanent Secretary of the Adamawa State Pension Board, Mallam Muhammad Auwal Ibrahim, congratulated the new leadership and encouraged them to prioritize capacity building and training programs aimed at boosting members’ skills and productivity.

The event marked a pivotal moment for TOAN in Adamawa State, ushering in a new phase of leadership committed to unity, development, and effective representation.
