Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has congratulated the newly elected executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Adamawa State Council, on their successful emergence at the polls.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, Governor Fintiri extended special congratulations to Abdullahi Ibrahim of ATV Yola on his election as Chairman, alongside other newly elected officials.

Governor Fintiri described the election as a reflection of the union’s democratic spirit and camaraderie, urging the new leadership to promote unity, professionalism, and inclusiveness within the NUJ. He encouraged them to reach out to all members, including those who contested in the election, in a spirit of collaboration and reconciliation.

“The outcome of the election demonstrates the maturity of the profession. It should be seen not as a rivalry, but a contest among colleagues committed to the progress of the union,” the Governor stated.

While pledging his administration’s continued partnership with the media, Governor Fintiri emphasized the need for ethical journalism and renewed professionalism in the state. “Journalists play a vital role in our democracy, and I urge you to uphold the core values and ethics of your noble profession,” he added.

Abdullahi Ibrahim and other executive members were elected on Wednesday and will serve a three-year tenure.

Governor Fintiri wished them a productive and impactful term in office, reaffirming his support for a vibrant and responsible media landscape in Adamawa State.
