A frontline aspirant for the Lere West Constituency seat in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Tom Garba, has formally declared his readiness to contest in the 2027 elections after obtaining the nomination form of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Garba’s move signals his full entry into the race, as he positions himself among key contenders seeking to represent the constituency at the state legislature. In a statement addressed to his constituents, the aspirant expressed strong confidence in his ambition, affirming his determination to pursue it to the very end.
He disclosed that both his expression of interest and nomination forms are set for submission, underscoring what he described as a clear commitment to the people of Lere West. According to him, his aspiration is rooted in a genuine desire to serve, backed by a sense of responsibility and purpose.
Garba further reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, emphasizing his respect for the party’s internal democratic mechanisms. He stated his willingness to abide by whichever mode of candidate selection the party adopts—whether consensus arrangement or direct primaries—in line with its constitution.
While addressing the possibility of a consensus candidacy, Garba stressed that such a process must be anchored on justice, fairness, and inclusiveness. He noted that all stakeholders must be carried along to ensure legitimacy and unity within the party.
The aspirant also cautioned against premature claims by individuals presenting themselves as consensus candidates, warning that such actions could create divisions and weaken party cohesion ahead of the elections.
Expressing confidence in the leadership of Uba Sani, Garba said he trusts the state government and party leadership to deliver a transparent and credible selection process that would produce a formidable candidate for the APC.
He reiterated his preparedness to participate in the party’s direct primaries scheduled for May 20, 2026, should the leadership opt for that route.
Garba concluded by pledging his commitment not only to his personal ambition but also to the overall success of the APC in Kaduna State. He assured that he would support all party candidates, including Ahmed Mannir, while promoting unity, fairness, and collective progress within the party.
