The 2025/2026 football season has ended on a remarkable note for Adamawa United FC and Adamawa Queens FC, with both clubs delivering spirited performances regarded as among the best in recent years.
The clubs, under the leadership of Bulus Daniel, ably assisted by the hardworking club secretary, Yusuf Chidama, and other management staff, approached the season with determination and a clear sense of purpose.
The technical crews and players also embraced the challenge, buoyed by strong moral and financial support from the management. Throughout the season, both teams displayed commitment, resilience and determination in every match they played.
Adamawa United FC had suffered relegation in the previous campaign, a situation that did not sit well with Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who believed such a setback was unacceptable for a football-loving state like Adamawa.
Governor Fintiri immediately initiated plans to revive the club, leading to the appointment of Bulus Daniel, a retired footballer and seasoned administrator, while Dr. Yusuf Chidama was tasked with overseeing the club secretariat alongside other members of the management team.
The new management swung into action by securing a slot to retain Adamawa United FC in the Nigeria National League, the country’s second-tier football division. Advertisements were also placed for qualified coaches, backroom staff and other personnel required for the effective running of the club.
With the administrative structure in place, the club recruited experienced players while retaining some members of the previous squad.
In his maiden address to officials and players, Chairman Bulus Daniel charged the teams to target promotion, while also acknowledging the challenges ahead and noting that a respectable finish would still be appreciated.
The teams responded positively, beginning the season strongly and maintaining consistency throughout the campaign.
At the end of the season, Adamawa United FC finished second in Group D, just two points behind group winners Ranchers Bees FC, narrowly missing promotion to the elite division of Nigerian football for the first time since 2013, when the club last featured in the Nigeria Premier League.
Although the club fell short of promotion, its performance has renewed hope among supporters, with many believing the team is now on course for greater achievements next season.
For Adamawa Queens FC, the campaign proved even more demanding as the team travelled across the country to compete against some of the best sides in women’s football in Nigeria.
From the savannah region to the creeks of Rivers and Bayelsa states, and across the western part of the country, Adamawa Queens held their own impressively, finishing fourth in their group behind Bayelsa Queens FC, Rivers Angels FC and Edo Queens FC, narrowly missing out on a playoff spot.
Speaking at the end of the season, Dr. Yusuf Chidama commended the officials and players of both teams for their commitment and dedication, urging them to build on the renewed hope ahead of next season.
He assured them that the management, under the leadership of Bulus Daniel, would continue to prioritise the welfare of players while working to address the shortcomings observed during the season in order to achieve greater success in the future.
