A coalition of youth groups from Adamawa Southern Zone has formally endorsed former Senator Ahmad Moallahyidi Abubakar for a return to the National Assembly, citing his experience and past contributions as critical to addressing the region’s current challenges.
The endorsement, announced during a meeting in Numan, brought together representatives from across the Numan Federation, who expressed concern over what they described as slow development and the abandonment of key projects in the zone. According to them, the call for Moallahyidi to recontest the senatorial seat is driven by a need for tested leadership capable of restoring direction and continuity.
Youth leaders Hans Fwah, Danladi Carpenter, and Ummul Shehu, who spoke on behalf of the group, highlighted the former senator’s track record in office, noting that his tenure was marked by impactful initiatives and legislation that contributed to the growth of the Southern Zone. They stressed that many of those projects remain incomplete and require deliberate follow-through.
They argued that the region’s current situation demands a leader familiar with its developmental history and capable of reviving stalled interventions. “This endorsement is about progress and continuity. We believe Senator Moallahyidi has the capacity to complete what was started and deliver more for our people,” the representatives stated.
The youths also emphasized their commitment to mobilizing support across communities, pledging to work collectively toward ensuring his return to the Senate.
In his reaction, a close associate of the former lawmaker, Alhaji Abubakar Garba, commended the youths for their initiative, describing it as a strong indication of the confidence placed in Moallahyidi’s leadership. He noted that such grassroots backing reflects a broader desire among constituents for effective and result-oriented representation.
The development is expected to influence political discussions in the zone, particularly as preparations gradually build toward the next electoral cycle.
