Alia Condemns Fresh Attack in Benue, Vows Justice

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has strongly condemned the latest attack on Mbalom community in Gwer East Local Government Area, describing the incident as barbaric and completely unacceptable.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor said the assault—allegedly carried out by armed herdsmen—represents a direct threat to the peace and security of the state.

Governor Alia expressed deep sympathy to families who lost loved ones and those affected by the violence, assuring them that the government will provide the necessary support during this difficult time. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to standing firmly with the people of Mbalom and other vulnerable communities.

The governor also raised concern over what he described as a troubling pattern of calculated and targeted attacks in parts of the state. He warned that such acts of violence would not be tolerated, stressing that decisive steps are being taken to restore lasting peace.

While commending the swift intervention of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies, Alia noted that operations are ongoing to track down and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

He reiterated his administration’s resolve to ensure justice is served and to strengthen security measures across the state to prevent further occurrences.
